Let's plant 1,000 trees
in Trenton.

Trees for Trenton is a community effort to address environmental justice and make Trenton a more beautiful and livable city.

What's happening?

The City of Trenton and partner organizations have funding from the NJ Department of Environmental Protection to plant trees in Trenton’s parks and streets.

We will be planting 1,000 trees around Trenton over the next three years.

Planting Locations

Our first Community Tree Planting Day will take place along West State Street, between Calhoun Street and Perdicaris Place, on October 26, 2024, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Planting locations were determined based on a variety of factors, primarily a lack of existing tree canopy cover and suitability for trees based on available sidewalk space and absence of overhead wires.

Other plantings scheduled for Fall 2024 include a planting in Cadwalader Park, and Isles' plantings along Academy Street and North Broad Street led by Isles.

What trees are being planted?

Red Maple

Acer rubrum

Medium shade tree

Medium sized shade tree with green leaves that turn bright red in the fall. Red maples are one of the first trees to change color in the fall. In spring, seeds and flower buds are a popular food for native birds.
